Gabapentin is a medication that can be used to treat partial seizures, nerve pain from shingles, and restless leg syndrome. It is available in tablet form and is sold under the brand name Gabawar Tab. This medication acts on the chemical messengers in your brain and nerves. Gabapentin belongs to a group of drugs called anticonvulsants.

How to use Gabapentin Tablate

Gabapentin tablets are used to treat various conditions, including epilepsy, postherpetic neuralgia (PHN), and restless legs syndrome (RLS). 

• Take gabapentin tablets exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than the recommended dose, and do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor.
• The dosage of gabapentin will depend on your medical condition and response to treatment. For children, the dosage may also be based on weight. 

• Gabapentin tablets are usually taken three times a day Follow the prescribed schedule and take the tablets at the same times each day.
• Take gabapentin tablets by mouth with or without food, as directed by your doctor. Swallow the tablets whole with a drink of water or juice.
• It may take a few weeks for gabapentin to start working effectively Continue taking the medication as prescribed, even if you start feeling better.

Precautions

Inform your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history, especially if you have kidney disease, mental health problems, a history of drug or alcohol abuse, or breathing problems like COPD.

Gabapentin may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or doing activities that require alertness or clear vision until you can do so safely. Limit alcohol consumption. If you use marijuana, talk to your doctor.

Older adults may be more susceptible to side effects such as swelling, breathing problems, dizziness, or loss of coordination. These side effects can increase the risk of falling.
